Sources of Tourmaline
Tourmaline is a crystalline boron silicate mineral compounded with elements such as aluminium, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium or potassium. Traces of iron and possibly titanium induce green and blue colours; manganese produces reds and pinks, and possibly yellows, producing the wide range of colours that Tourmaline can be found in.
Tourmalines are mined everywhere in the world including Africa, Afghanistan, Africa, Australia, Brazil, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Siberia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, the USA, and Zimbabwe, and name comes from the Sinhalese term “turmali,” which was the name given to all colored crystals on the island of Sri Lanka at that time.
